Makapuu Beach Oahu, Hawaii
Makapuu Beach is a Hawaiian gem that sits below the Makapuu Point, located southeast of Oahu. Most visitors venture out this direction to hike up to the Makapuu Lighthouse, but rarely stick around to enjoy some of the most spectaular Oahu beaches! Seen in this photo is Sandy Beach, the most beautiful sand bottom beach on the southeast side of Oahu. This beach is known for its excellent bodyboarding and body surfing. The water is very rough with powerful shorebreaks so only the experienced surfers need explore.
Halona Blowhole, seen from Makapuu Point, is one of Hawaii’s natural wonders that sprays ocean water high into the air. It can also be seen from Halona Point. The blowhole is a rock formation and when the tide is high it acts as a geyser. It is a popular tourist attraction and in the winter you may see some humpback whales as they take their journey leaving the North Pacific.
